When to seek emergency care
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, rapidly spreading facial swelling, high fever with facial swelling or another life-threatening symptom.
Call the dental office if you notice
- Pain that worsens after the first 2–3 days
- Swelling that spreads or increases
- Bleeding that doesn't slow with gentle pressure
- A restoration that feels high, loose or falls out
- A bad taste, drainage or fever
- Numbness that persists longer than expected
